Job Description: Senior Software Developer (PHP/MySQL)
United Domains is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer that is passionate about building user-facing web applications. This is a full-time position in our Cambridge office.
The position requires a strong background in and experience with user interface and usability design, review and testing. We are looking for candidates with a track record of designing and implementing compelling web-based interactive experiences. We need someone who understands the implications of aesthetics on complex functional design, and who enjoys taking complicated problems and turning them into simple and elegant solutions. This candidate will collaborate with our in-house designer to translate mock-ups and wireframes to implementation. We are a small, close-knit group, and need someone who is a team player and good collaborator.
- Create web applications using primarily PHP/MySQL
- Work closely with operations and infrastructure to build and scale back-end services
- Work with Designers and Software Engineers to implement new United Domains products
- Build efficient and reusable front-end abstractions and systems
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Identify and communicate best practices for software engineering
- Contribute to all phases of the software development cycle
Job Requirements
- Expert knowledge of PHP/MySQL/HTML/CSS/Javascript
- Familiarity with Mac OS X and Apple hardware/software
- A deep appreciation for Open Source technologies and a passion for the Internet
- Experience working with PHP/MySQL in high-performance environments
- Passion for performance debugging and benchmarking
- 2-3 years of experience building web applications
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Experience in domain name/web hosting industry is highly desirable
